FCO Website Update: Thailand
The FCO travel advice has been reviewed and reissued with an amendment to the Travel Summary (flooding in Sukhothai and disruption to rail services to northern Thailand). The overall level of the advice has not changed. The FCO advise against all travel to the Preah Vihear and Ta Krabey/Ta Moan temple areas on the Thailand/Cambodia border and against all but essential travel to the provinces of Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and Songkhla.

“There has been localised flooding in Sukhothai, 265 miles north of Bangkok, following heavy rain. In addition a landslide on 8 September has caused the suspension of the rail service between Lampang and Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. A replacement bus service is running. It may take up to ten days to repair the line. Travellers booked on trains from Bangkok to Chiang Mai should seek an update from their booking agents.”
